Featured Beer: Atwater’s HopApeel is a frontal assault on the American IPA style that features not only the classic American Cascade and Chinook hops, but two of the new “Super Cascade” varieties in both the kettle and in the dry hop. Dried and ground orange peel is added to the whirlpool to deliver a citric bittering that sets HopApeel apart from the masses.

Our tap room is now located in our brewery space and we have new hours.  Stop by for a cold one Monday thru Friday from 5-10 pm, Saturday from 2 – 11 pm & Sunday 12 – 8 pm.  You can’t get any food back there, but who needs it when beer is on the menu? Atwater Brewery is located in the heart of Detroit’s Rivertown district, just a couple of blocks from the dirty divide (The Detroit River).

Bavarian in its ancestry, German Style Marzens were brewed only from the end of September through April. They were then stored cold and the remainder served at Oktoberfest to celebrate the harvest and the beginning of the brewing season. The style exhibits clean, bready, toasty notes with the increased alcohol and hop bitterness required for stability during aging.

Located in Detroit’s historic Rivertown district, and housed in a 1919 factory warehouse, Atwater Brewery was founded in March of 1997 with the purpose of carrying on the rich history of breweries in Detroit. Our brewing process, however, is over 200 years old.
